Our school adventure starts with making new friendships and developing a great attitude to learning.
Prep (Foundation) is one of the most exciting times in a child’s school life it's where the foundations for a positive attitude to lifelong learning are established.
The world of literacy is opened through a program called Jolly Phonics where we sing, sign, write and sound-out the English language. We discover that Maths is all around us, and we can use everyday things to count, measure, pattern, and group together.
Visual and Performing Arts provides students with opportunities to experiment with ideas, concepts and feelings.
The Foundation class participates in the school-wide Integrated unit program where History, Geography and Science concepts are introduced. Students learn about different communities that they are part of, including their classroom, school, local and wider community.
Technology is used as a tool for learning, with 1:1 iPads in class used to consolidate learning, allowing students to demonstrate their knowledge and to connect with other classes and schools. Computers within the classroom are used throughout the week to enhance Literacy and Numeracy activities. The Foundation class uses a variety of Google Applications on their devices and is introduced to the concept of coding, through the use of Blue Bot robotic technology.
All of our Prep learning is done knowing God is our King, friend and helper, and we praise Him each day for the wonders of life.
